Rules for playing Poker Holdem
There is a world of difference between tournament poker Holdem and ring games. Online or in live games the differences are the same. In a ring game if you lose your stack you can replace it and continue in the game. In a tournament, the loss of the stack is the end of your tournament. For this reason the all-in bet is a powerful weapon when used by a player that knows how to use it. Tournament play is an activity that can be learned over time and the more a player plays, the better they will get at making good decisions. Aggressive play is rewarded in tournaments, as players are always worried about getting knocked out of the tournament early and losing all chance to get into the money. Once a player starts' making the money, the player then wants to win the tournament and the money while nice, is a secondary consideration for the player. Winning is all the players you see on TV are concerned about and winning a second or third place money prize is not the end all to the tournament. Of course the WSOP is an exception as the prize money has gotten to the point that making the final table means the player is assured of winning a million dollars. Some of the WPTs are in a similar category.
