Blackjack Tips
Blackjack is easier to play than poker and so is a good choice for the novice player. It is reported to be the most popular casino table game. As with any of the table games it is always useful for a player to familiarize himself with all the aspects of the game. Once you've learned the basics of Blackjack you will feel comfortable with your bets and enjoy the game. Here are a few Blackjack tips that will help you along the way.
Find a hot Blackjack table. Some tables pay off better than others so don't just sit down at the first table you find with an empty seat. Look for a table that meets your minimum bet requirements. If the players are smiling and talking with the dealer it usually means they are happy because they are winning. Check the size of the chip stacks in front of each player. Then watch how the player is betting. If the players tend to make more than just minimum bets and their chips are stacking up it's worth trying your luck at that table. This is what's known as a hot table.
Pay attention to how many decks of cards are being shuffled together. Your best bet odds against the house are to play a table that has the least number of decks being used. One of the easy Blackjack tips to remember is the more decks being shuffled together, the more the house edge goes up.
Know when to stand and when to ask the dealer for a hit. It's never a good idea to play Blackjack on your gut feeling. There are basic rules that most players follow when playing this game. A total of 21 is Blackjack and you are a winner. If your cards total between 17 and 20 you stand. With a total of 12 to 16 you should take a hit when the dealer's cards equal 7 or higher. With a total of cards from 2 to 8 you definitely take a hit.
You will notice that some of the players split cards. If you are dealt two Aces or two eights it is always a good idea to ask the dealer to Split your cards as it increases your odds of winning. Splitting gives you the chance to win at both hands, but this strategy does require you to double your bet. One of the best Blackjack tips is to never split 5's, 10's, or any of the face cards.
